Bruce Clarke, CFA
Partner, President
|
Bruce Clarke is responsible for managing the firm's business
affairs as well as developing and implementing Arrowstreet's
strategic business plan. Bruce holds a seat on the firm's
Investment Committee.
From 1994 to 1999, Bruce was the President and CEO of
PanAgora Asset Management. He led the management of the
business with $17 billion of assets for 100 clients. In
addition, Bruce served as Chairman of the Investment Committee.
Bruce directed the global investment group at PanAgora
and its predecessor, The Boston Company, from 1988 to
1994. In that role, he oversaw the investment process
for all Global Asset Allocation, International Equity
and Emerging Market Strategies.
From 1984 to 1988, Bruce worked in London and Milan in
portfolio management and corporate finance. He started
his career in 1980 as a financial analyst at a Canadian
brokerage firm.
Bruce received his MBA from London Business School in
1984 and a B.Com.
from the University of British Columbia in 1980. Bruce
is a CFA charterholder.

Peter Rathjens, Ph.D.
Partner, CIO |
Peter Rathjens has the overall responsibility for Arrowstreet's
investment products and chairs the firm's Investment Committee.
From 1998 to 1999, Peter was the Chief Investment Officer,
and from 1995 to 1999, the Director of Global Investments
at PanAgora Asset Management. He oversaw all of PanAgora's
investment strategies, with particular responsibility
for the global strategies, including Global Asset Allocation,
International Equities, and Emerging Market Equities.
Prior to that, he directed PanAgora's research team since
1992. In that role, he was responsible for coordinating
and overseeing all the research undertaken at PanAgora.
Peter started his career in quantitative asset management
at Colonial Asset Management where he built quantitative
models for forecasting and managing active equity portfolios.
His previous work experience includes jobs at Data Resources
and Lehman Bros., where he built economic forecasting
models.
Peter's academic career included positions as an Instructor
at Princeton University and as an Assistant Professor
and Adjunct Professor at Brandeis University. His publications
include papers in the Journal of Forecasting and
in the Review of Economic and Statistics.
Peter received his Ph.D. and MA in Economics from Princeton
University in 1990, and a BA in Economics and Mathematics
from Oberlin College in 1981.

John Capeci, Ph.D.
Partner, Portfolio Management |
John Capeci helps oversee all elements of Arrowstreet's portfolio management and production processes, including incorporating new research and implementation initiatives. John holds a seat on the firm’s Investment Committee.
John was the Director of Research at PanAgora Asset Management from 1998 to 1999. John’s areas of responsibility included overseeing PanAgora's quantitative research program and supervising an internal research staff responsible for the development and refinement of the firm’s forecasting models. In addition, he coordinated collaborative efforts between internal research staff and the external academic advisory council.
John’s previous positions at PanAgora included Senior Investment Manager, where he managed several U.S. Equity portfolios, as well as Research Manager, where he developed and enhanced forecasting models for a wide range of quantitative investment strategies.
Prior to joining PanAgora in 1994, John was an Assistant Professor of Economics at Brandeis University where he taught courses in Finance, Statistics, Public Finance, and Managerial Economics. Previously, John was a lecturer in the Economics Department at Princeton University.
John received a Ph.D in Economics from Princeton University in 1990, and a BA from Harvard University in 1984.

Ezra Levine, CFA
Partner, Portfolio Management |
Ezra Levine is responsible for many of the functions associated
with the day-to-day implementation of the firm's investment
strategies. Ezra holds a seat on the firm's Investment
Committee.
From 1998 to 1999, Ezra was an Investment Manager within
the Global Investment team at PanAgora. In this role,
he was responsible for the daily management and implementation
of PanAgora's global strategies, including International
Equities, Emerging Market Equities and Global Asset Allocation.
From 1995 to 1998, Ezra was an Analyst and Trader for
Walden Capital Management. At Walden, Ezra was responsible
for the firm's equity and bond trading and assisted the
investment team with equity research.
Ezra started his career in asset management in 1993 as
a Trader and Sales Trader for Valores Bursatiles de Mexico
in Mexico City. While there, he developed trading relationships
with global investment firms located in the United States,
Japan and Europe.
Ezra received his B.S. in Business Administration with
a Finance concentration
from Northeastern University in 1992. Ezra is a CFA charterholder.

George Pararas-Carayannis, CFA
Partner, Portfolio Management |
George Pararas-Carayannis is responsible for many of the functions associated with the day-to-day implementation of the firm's investment strategies.
George holds a seat on the firm's Investment Committee.
Prior to joining Arrowstreet in 2002, George worked at
Putnam Investments as an analyst supporting derivative
and fixed income securities within the Investment Data
Group. He was responsible for maintaining analytics for
various complex financial instruments including futures,
swaps, options, bonds, and mortgage/asset-backed securities.
From 1998 through 2000, George worked at PanAgora Asset
Management on the Global Investment Team. In his role
as a Senior Investment Associate, George assisted with
the investment process and the daily management of PanAgora's
global/international equity portfolios.
George started his career in the financial services industry
as a Registered Representative at Fidelity Investments
where he assisted mutual fund clients with investment
decisions and the maintenance of their portfolios.
George received his B.S. in Business Administration with
a concentration in International Business from Georgetown
University's School of Business in 1996. George is
a CFA charterholder.

Jim Thames, CFA
Partner, Portfolio Management |
Jim Thames is responsible for many of the functions associated
with the day-to-day implementation of the firm's investment
strategies. Jim holds a seat on the firm's Investment
Committee.
From 1995 to 1999, Jim was a Senior Equity Research Analyst
at the Frank Russell Company. He was responsible for evaluating
and recommending stock selection strategies to Frank Russell
clients. Jim focused primarily on strategies utilizing
quantitative tools and techniques for implementation purposes.
His specific areas of research responsibility included:
US Market-Oriented, Market-Neutral, TAA, Global TAA, and
Global Balanced.
From 1989 to 1993, Jim was an Analyst for Merrill Lynch
Consulting Services. He was part of a three-person team
responsible for providing overall investment consulting
services to public plan sponsors throughout Florida. Services
included asset allocation studies, manager searches, and
ongoing performance measurement.
Jim received his MBA from the University of W. Florida
in 1994 and his BA in Finance from the University of Florida
in 1989. He has also completed MBA course work at
Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. Jim is a CFA
charterholder.

Matt Spiegel, CFA
Associate, Portfolio Management |
Matt Spiegel works with Ezra Levine, Jim Thames, and George Pararas where he is responsible for many
functions associated with the day-to-day implementation
of the firms investment strategies.
Prior to joining Arrowstreet in 2003, Matt started his career in the financial services industry at JP Morgan Chase, where he was responsible
for monitoring Swap positions and collateral, monitoring cash balances and various aspects of SEC reporting.
Matt graduated from the Carroll School of Management at
Boston College with a degree in Economics in 2001.
Matt is a CFA charterholder.

Michael Zervas
Associate, Portfolio Management |
Michael Zervas works with Ezra Levine, Jim Thames, and George Pararas where he is responsible for many
functions associated with the day-to-day implementation
of the firms investment strategies.
Prior to joining Arrowstreet, Mike worked as a consultant
for FactSet Research Systems, where he facilitated the
sales process through product demonstrations and project
work for current and prospective clients.
Mike graduated from Stonehill College with a B.S. in Finance
in 2001. Mike is currently a Level III candidate
in the CFA program.
