JOB DESCRIPTION:
This individual will take the lead in Arrowstreet’s initiative to expand and improve its performance measurement capabilities. With overall responsibility for Arrowstreet’s investment performance analysis function, this person will gather and analyze performance data and communicate results to clients, consultants and management. In addition, he/she will have responsibility for verifying the accuracy of portfolio and benchmark performance results. Additionally, he/she will work closely with senior management and marketing staff to design and develop new performance reporting capabilities and respond to client requests as well as conduct special projects/analyses. This individual will report to the Manager of the Trade Operations & Reporting team.
The successful candidate will have a comprehensive knowledge of investment products and performance measurement techniques and be able to work independently on complex projects and analyses.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and implement a comprehensive performance measurement and attribution system.
- Collect and analyze investment performance data for use in external and internal reports.
- Ensure the accuracy of all portfolio and benchmark performance results.
- Ensure that the firm is compliant with Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) and coordinate all annual verification audits.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The candidate must have strong quantitative skills and the ability to communicate performance results both internally and externally. Other qualifications include:
- CPA, CFA or CIPM is a MUST.
- BS/BA in Math or Finance.
- 6+ years of related experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Arrowstreet has recently increased its client base of small to mid size institutional investors. This individual will be responsible for serving and managing all aspects of these relationships including: communications on investment strategy, portfolio reviews, written commentary, etc.
This role will report in to the Head of Business Development located in Boston and travel is expected.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement client service plan for defined group of clients, including on boarding process for new clients
- As the primary point of contact, serve as a “proxy” for the Portfolio Management team by providing clients with ongoing updates about the investment philosophy, process, performance attribution of their accounts
- Participates in Investment Committee meetings and Account Review meetings with Portfolio Management team
- Assist in the creation of client materials, attribution and other portfolio related information. Handle ad hoc questions and provide commentary for questionnaires.
- Support the overall marketing effort when needed and appropriate (this may include making consultant or sales calls in particular cities or regions)
- Assist in development of new products
QUALIFICATIONS:
This candidate should have excellent communication skills and a strong investment background with in-depth product knowledge. He/She must be able to communicate sophisticated investment strategy and portfolio level information to institutional investors. Other items include:
- 3-6 years of experience in an investment team or product management team
- Proven presentation and writing skills and the ability to work in a team environment with multiple responsibilities
- BS/BA or MBA in Finance, Business or Economics
- CFA strongly preferred

Applications Developer - Trading Systems

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The application developer we are looking for will help support, maintain and improve upon our Trading Systems software. This involves integrating information between market data providers, back office and portfolio management systems with our Trading System ( Charles River). The software technologies involved include heavy use of SQL Server 2005 Databases (T-SQL), as well as Crystal Reports and SSRS and some C#. The developer will work closely with representatives of the Compliance/Operations team as well as the Portfolio Management team. The developer will also interact with other groups in the firm including other developers, the Network team and the QA team. This developer will serve as a key contributor in solving Trading System related issues and will need to work closely with the Charles River support teams.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and enhance stored procedures, views, functions and triggers. Roughly 75% of the work will be in T-SQL.
- Monitor and support the production Charles River System. This includes assessing overall performance with database administrators and providing periodic updates and proposals for improved performance.
- Provide production support for general applications and processes. This includes participating on rotating “on call” shifts.
- Develop and document processes/procedures for trouble shooting issues and resolving these issues with internal IT teams, users and external Charles River support teams. Documentation should be sufficiently thorough and complete to allow for training of other developers that can provide back-up support.
- Work on enhancement and upgrade projects relative to Charles River. This will frequently involve working with QA teams and external Charles River consultants.
- Develop front end applications and middle tier applications using C# and Dot Net
- Experience building and consuming with windows services and web services.
- Work closely with business users to understand the business needs and requirements and then design and develop database applications/reports that meet those requirements.
- Develop detailed technical specification documents.
- Address data quality issues with users, vendors and management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Candidates must live within commuting distance of Arrowstreet (Boston, MA – Back Bay) and be currently permitted to work indefinitely in the U.S.
- Computer Science, Engineering or related degree is required.
- Experience working on Trading Systems required ( Charles River experience strongly preferred).
- The candidate must have strong problem solving skills, with an interest in and ability to learn and understand the business problems.
- Requires 6+ years of direct, hands-on experience as a SQL Server Database Developer and at least 3+ years working with trading systems. Strong database skills are of the highest importance. Knowledge of database design, normalization, queries, stored procedures, query optimization and data imports/exports/transformation is necessary.
- Basic experience (5+ years) with Microsoft Dot Net programming, and knowledge of Object Oriented Programming specifically with C# Winforms. ( ASP / Web experience is not applicable).
- Experience with reporting systems, either Crystal Reports or SSRS.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills. Candidate must be comfortable coordinating with several groups and senior management to ensure appropriate approvals and reviews are sought/obtained on a timely basis and as necessary.
- Candidate must have the ability to learn the basic logic of a system by reviewing and reverse engineering the existing code base.
- Ability to work in an independent, self-directed manner.
