JOB DESCRIPTION:
The individual will assist the Portfolio Management team with various facets of the investment management effort. The ideal candidate will be expected to: 1) handle various tasks associated with domestic/international equity and currency trading, 2) monitor daily portfolio activity, 3) work with back office to resolve portfolio accounting issues, 4) assist with portfolio performance attribution, 5) assist in reviewing stock return forecasts, 6) download data for miscellaneous research requests and 7) assist with the further automation of various daily/monthly job responsibilities.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Trading:
- Help Create foreign exchange tickets for funding equity trades and hedging portfolio exposure.
- Assist with the communication of trade orders to brokers.
- Send trade executions to back office for processing.
- Ensure that brokers & banks have proper settlement instructions.
- Help monitor broker execution performance.
- Research settlement problems and failed trades with brokers and banks.
Monitor Daily Portfolio Activity:
- Assist with the cash flow management of portfolios.
- Monitor currency exposure reports to ensure that portfolios are hedged properly.
- Manage corporate action process to verify that all actions have been processed on a timely and accurate basis.
Work with Back Office:
- Assist in editing and researching portfolio holdings data used in optimizations.
- Review reports and process multiple monthly and quarterly mailings.
Performance Attribution:
- Help maintain performance composites.
- Assist in the preparation of performance attribution reports.
Data Requests:
- Download data from various vendors to be used in multiple areas of the firm.
Automation:
- Assist in prototyping automated solutions to various daily/monthly portfolio management tasks.
- Assist with the software coding of automated solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree with at least 1 year business experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word necessary.
- Programming experience in VBA, VB, SQL, and Crystal Reports highly preferred.
- Familiarity with Factset and Bloomberg preferred.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work both within a team and independently.
- Ability to work under pressure while meeting numerous deadlines.
- Enrollment in the CFA Institute's CFA program is expected within 6 months of beginning job is expected.

- Manage Arrowstreet Capital’s back office service provider
- Review and audit daily portfolio valuations
- Prepare and analyze monthly client reporting packages
- Monitor all portfolio activity (e.g. Assets, Cash, Accruals, and Equity & FX Trades) within the various long only and long/short international portfolios
- Oversee and manage relationships with various fund accounting service providers and custodians.
- Monitor and report on portfolio compliance.
- Manage technical developers to implement projects related to reporting automation.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for an individual with a strong hands-on technical background as a Software Developer who can lead the development effort for Portfolio Construction software systems. Candidate must be able to set realistic project estimates and then successfully manage the development effort to completion, while staying on time and on budget. Note, this is a hands-on position: the candidate must be able to design; evaluate the designs of others; and go heads down coding along with the team while also managing the project deliverables. The applications involve constructing and monitoring portfolios.
The software technologies include C#, Net 3.5, Composite Application Blocks (CAB), Infragistics controls, WCF, web services, LINQ and SQL Server 2005 Databases. The ideal candidate must have a proven track record of leading software development projects. The position requires an in-depth knowledge and experience with software development in a Microsoft Win-forms, N-Tier and Service Oriented based systems. Financial experience in the investment field specifically dealing with security master, portfolio and restrictions is highly preferred.
Typical duties include:
- Working directly with Business users and Analysts to understand, document and design technical solutions to solve business needs.
- Designing and implementation of new software functionality for the Portfolio Management and Compliance business units.
- Managing development projects; estimating, task assignment, managing to deadlines
- Coordinating activities of up to 8 developers on the project.
- Develop software using C#.net in a win-forms environment and on the services side.
- Development of Database structures including Tables and Stored Procedures in MS SQL Server 2000 and 2005.
- Supporting the production systems to ensure high availability and reliability of the software supporting the Trading process.
QUALIFICATIONS:

This position reports to the Database Architect and involves direct responsibility for the design, maintenance, and support of Arrowstreet's Database Systems. The ideal candidate requires a high level of analytical and creative skills and an in-depth knowledge of database structure, configuration, methodology, design, and maintenance.
