Operations & Reporting Associate

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a professional with Big Four public accounting experience to work in the client reporting area at Arrowstreet which currently includes reporting for over 100 separate accounts and 5 Arrowstreet funds based in Ireland.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Monitor all portfolio activity (e.g. Assets, Cash, Accruals and Equity & FX Trades) within the portfolios for Arrowstreet’s 100+ client accounts.
  • Liaise with outsourced back office provider and client custodians on the activity and valuation of the investments held within the portfolio on a daily and month-end basis.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly client reporting packages.
  • Review and audit the daily portfolio reports received from Arrowstreet’s back office.
  • Assist in management requested ad hoc financial reporting and other project work, including projects related to investment activity of the portfolio.
  • Assist in designing monitoring controls and improving reporting efficiencies.
  • Assist in launch of new fund products and new trading instruments as it relates to reporting oversight.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The candidate must currently be permitted to work indefinitely in the United States and live within commuting distance of our office.
  • Requirements include:
      • CPA
      • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance.
      • Minimum of 5 years at a Big Four public accounting firm.
      • Financial services industry experience
  • In addition to the requirements above, the following are desirable:
      • SAS 70/Controls experience.
      • Direct hands-on fund accounting experience.
      • Experience with SQL and Bloomberg.
  • The ability to review existing processes/procedures and suggest improvements is strongly encouraged.

Trade Compliance

JOB DESCRIPTION:

A member of the Trade Compliance team is responsible for applying, monitoring and enforcing the compliance rules and guidelines of Arrowstreet Capital and its clients. This role will require the performance and oversight of daily data integrity checks to ensure that Arrowstreet’s accounting and trading records are accurate. The individual in this role should have a firm grasp on equity and FX trading operations, corporate actions and the trade settlement process.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Ensure that all portfolio holdings and expected trades meet compliance guidelines and restrictions as instructed by the client.
  • Monitor all portfolio activity, including tying out all corporate actions and trades that are processed in the accounts.
  • Oversee and manage back-office trade operations, brokers and custodians and industry professionals.
  • Prepare and analyze daily good to sell files from custodians.
  • Review and audit the daily portfolio compliance Alerts and Warning reports received from Arrowstreet’s order management system.
  • Assist in management requested ad hoc financial reporting and other project work, including projects related to investment activity of the portfolio.
  • Assist in the resolution of compliance related client inquiries.
  • Analyze and scrub all accounting data that is imported into Arrowstreet’s trading platform.
  • Identifying and proposing solutions related to new operational requirements.

  • Knowledge of the Equity and Currency trade markets and how they work is required.
  • A CPA designation and big four public accounting experience is strongly preferred.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required; SQL and macro writing skills a plus.
  • The candidate must be willing to work on various shifts as needed to cover European, Americas and Asian trading hours.

Research Associate

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We’re looking for a new junior member to join our research group. Our research group comes up with investment ideas, codifies those ideas to signals, back tests the signals, and produces return and risk forecasts based on the signals. Responsibilities typically grow in line with experience and abilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate has an undergraduate degree from a top educational institution in a field that requires problem solving skills, such as applied mathematics, economics, engineering or computer science.  We pay a lot of attention to your intelligence, undergraduate grades, undergraduate thesis and/or other research projects, and recommendations by your professors.

  • Experience with Stata 11, SQL Server 2005, and C# / .NET will be useful but not strictly necessary.
  • Interest in financial markets and experience in asset management are also considered significant positives.
  • Experience with large stock market data sets is an advantage.

Finance Associate

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position reports to the firm’s Controller and involves responsibility for a wide range of accounting/financial reporting and analysis functions such as: preparation of quarterly management and performance fee invoices, assistance with foreign subsidiaries filings, assistance with preparing consolidated financial statements, developing reports/analytics for senior management, participate in management of annual audits and tax filings. In addition, the position will be responsible for supporting other finance functions including disbursements processing and payroll and assistance with the annual budget cycle (including variance analysis – budget-to-actual).

The ideal candidate will have broad based experience within the financial services sector including with registered investment advisors. 

This is a role where the candidate will be given much opportunity to demonstrate a broad variety of skills and will be expected to take on additional responsibilities and progress within the firm at an aggressive pace.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Software Developer - Research Group

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The developer will work in a small team that builds systems for the Research group.  The purpose of these systems is to produce forecasts that drive trading decisions. It’s therefore very important that these systems be logically correct, fast, and reliable. The software is highly data-centric and involves processing very large datasets so strong database skills are required. Experience with T-SQL and C# is required. The developer will have autonomy commensurate to his/her abilities.

Typical Duties:

  • Work closely with business users to review requirements. Develop, recommend, and discuss technical designs that meet those requirements.
  • Implement (code) the technical solutions in Microsoft T-SQL and C# using SQL Server Management Studio, Visual Studio 2010, and related tool sets.
  • Create new reports and enhance existing reports using SSRS.
  • Coordinate with members of the QA team to create a QA test plan and resolve issues/bugs identified during QA testing.
  • Coordinate with members of the IT Operations team to get software changes released to the production environment.
  • Use TFS for source control and tracking tasks from development to QA to production installs.
  • Developers are expected to provide support to resolve production issues expediently.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidates must live within commuting distance of Arrowstreet ( Boston, MA)
  • Candidates must currently be permitted to work legally and indefinitely in the U.S.
  • Computer Science, Engineering, Math or related degree is a requirement.
  • Requires 2+ years of professional SQL Server development--writing, updating, tuning TSQL Stored Procedures.

  • C# development experience is a plus.
