Operations & Reporting Associate

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a professional with Big Four public accounting experience to work in the client reporting area at Arrowstreet which currently includes reporting for over 100 separate accounts and 5 Arrowstreet funds based in Ireland.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Monitor all portfolio activity (e.g. Assets, Cash, Accruals and Equity & FX Trades) within the portfolios for Arrowstreet’s 100+ client accounts.
  • Liaise with outsourced back office provider and client custodians on the activity and valuation of the investments held within the portfolio on a daily and month-end basis.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly client reporting packages.
  • Review and audit the daily portfolio reports received from Arrowstreet’s back office.
  • Assist in management requested ad hoc financial reporting and other project work, including projects related to investment activity of the portfolio.
  • Assist in designing monitoring controls and improving reporting efficiencies.
  • Assist in launch of new fund products and new trading instruments as it relates to reporting oversight.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The candidate must currently be permitted to work indefinitely in the United States and live within commuting distance of our office.

Compliance Associate

JOB DESCRIPTION:

A member of the Trade Compliance team is responsible for applying, monitoring and enforcing the compliance rules and guidelines of Arrowstreet Capital and its clients. This role will require the performance and oversight of daily data integrity checks to ensure that Arrowstreet’s accounting and trading records are accurate. The individual in this role should have a firm grasp on equity and FX trading operations, corporate actions and the trade settlement process.

 Job responsibilities include:

  • Ensure that all portfolio holdings and expected trades meet compliance guidelines and restrictions as instructed by the client.
  • Monitor all portfolio activity, including tying out all corporate actions and trades that are processed in the accounts.

Business Development - Europe

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This individual will be a key part of Arrowstreet’s initiative to expand its presence in the European institutional market. The position will report to the Head of Global Business Development and Consultant Relationship Management. Given the importance of the role and our expanding presence in this market, this position will be developed in two stages:

Initially (target 9 months), the job will be based in Boston and focus will be on supporting new business activities and other marketing related initiatives for North America. This period is designed to allow the individual to integrate into the firm and to develop a robust understanding of all aspects of the investment and business development process at Arrowstreet.

The job will subsequently transition to London where the individual will work with our senior marketing representative in the UK. The role will involve all aspects of business development including responsibility for execution of the marketing strategy. Primary areas of responsibility will include business development among the institutional investment community and broadening and strengthening regional consultant relationships. Additional responsibilities will include contributing to the development of marketing materials and facets of product development. This person will also provide assistance to local client relationship management, but this is not expected to be a material component of their responsibilities.

Business Development Associate

This individual will support various aspects of Arrowstreet’s business development and consultant relations effort. JOB DESCRIPTION:

Arrowstreet continues to expand its global client base. As a result, Arrowstreet is expanding its Client Relationship Management Team. This individual will be responsible for serving and managing all aspects of the relationships with a selected number of our North American clients, and would report to the Manager of Client Relationship Management. The position is located in Boston, and travel is expected.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as the primary point of contact between clients and the various functional groups at Arrowstreet, including the portfolio management, operations, compliance, and legal groups.
  • Serve as a “proxy” for the portfolio management team by providing clients with ongoing updates regarding Arrowstreet’s investment philosophy, process, research, and performance of their accounts.

Applications Developer - Trading Systems

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The applications developer we are looking for will be a key contributor on a team dedicated to delivering high quality software solutions and supporting all applications related to Arrowstreet’s Trading Systems. This person will be involved in projects supporting both the Compliance and Portfolio Management business units. This person will also interact with other groups including developers, DBA’s, network engineers, quality assurance (QA) and third party vendors/consultants.

This role will be responsible for integrating information between Arrowstreet trading systems and other systems internal and external to the firm. The candidate will need to independently analyze, design, code, validate and implement software solutions using technologies such as SQL Server, MS Visual Studio, TFS, SSRS reporting, and C# .Net.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design, develop and implement projects as a member of the trading systems team. This includes:

  • Develop detailed technical specification documents.
  • Write stored procedures, views, functions and triggers using Microsoft SQL Server 2008.
  • Create reports using SSRS and Crystal Reports for operations and auditing purposes.
  • Develop front-end applications and application services using C#, .Net and WCF.
  • Develop customized batch and intraday processes integrating trading systems with research systems, vendor systems, custodians and market data providers.
  • Work closely with quality assurance team and end-users during testing and with Operations for production deployments.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for an experienced software developer who can independently and as part of a team work on software development projects used to support Arrowstreet’s Compliance and Reporting department. This individual will work closely with the business users, developers, QA and Operations teams to design, develop and implement custom software. Responsibilities include technical design and documentation, task estimation, coding and implementing. Experience in the financial/investment field is highly preferred.

The software technologies involved include: T-SQL, SQL Server 2008, C#, Visual Studio TFS 2010, SSRS, Crystal Reports, Infragistics controls, and WCF.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working directly with business users to understand the business needs; and then developing solutions to meet those requirements.
  • Developing good technical designs, corresponding documentation, and estimates.
  • Coordination with other groups (QA, networking, operations, and business users) as needed through to production implementation.

Applications Developer - Supporting Portfolio Management Systems

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The application developer will build, maintain, support and improve upon the software used to manage our client’s portfolios. This involves integrating information between various market data providers, back office partners, trading system and the portfolio management system. The software technologies involved include heavy use of SQL Server 2008 Databases, C#, Dot Net, Visual Studio 2010, SSRS as well as some Crystal Reports and VB6. The developer will work closely with members of our Portfolio Management Team (Traders), as well as interact with other groups in the firm including Compliance, Operations, Networking and QA.

The ideal candidate requires an in-depth knowledge of both T-SQL and C# skills. The candidate must be a strong problem solver with an interest in and an ability to learn and understand the business domain. He/she must have the ability to quickly learn and understand the basic logic of a system by reviewing the existing code base. The ability to work independently and with a close attention to detail is a must. Strong experience with MS SQL Server 2008 is required. Prior financial industry experience is a very strong plus.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position involves working as a member of the portfolio management team to help facilitate the processing of equity and fx trades done on behalf of the accounts we manage at Arrowstreet. The job will also require assisting with the attribution of account performance and with creating periodic reports of performance attribution for clients, as well as other ad-hoc projects as needed.

We are also looking for candidates who show promise at helping to automate and streamline various day to day tasks we perform. To this end, programming skills are highly desirable.

Typical Duties :

The typical duties will include, but are not be limited to the following:

  • Helping to ensure that our daily trade communications with our back office service provider occur in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Working with our back office service provider, brokers and custodians to resolve issues relating to trades that have failed, or are at risk of failing.
  • Helping to elect corporate actions and review that actions already elected have been processed.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The developer will work in a small team that builds systems for the Research group.  The purpose of these systems is to produce forecasts that drive trading decisions. It’s therefore very important that these systems be logically correct, fast, and reliable. The software is highly data-centric and involves processing very large datasets so strong database skills are required. Experience with C# is also a must. The developer will have autonomy commensurate to his/her abilities.

Typical Duties:

  • Work closely with business users to review requirements. Develop, recommend, and discuss technical designs that meet those requirements.
  • Implement (code) the technical solutions in Microsoft T-SQL and C# using SQL Server Management Studio, Visual Studio 2010, and related tool sets.
  • Create new reports and enhance existing reports using SSRS.
  • Coordinate with members of the QA team to create a QA test plan and resolve issues/bugs identified during QA testing.
  • Coordinate with members of the IT Operations team to get software changes released to the production environment.
  • Use TFS to source control the software and to track development tasks, production support tasks, test cases, and install tickets.
  • Developers are expected to provide support to resolve production issues expediently.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Computer Science, Engineering, Math or related degree is a requirement.
  • Requires 4-6+ years of professional SQL Server and C# development experience.
  • Strong SQL coding skills (Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2008).
  • Performance tuning and optimization of SQL code.
  • Experience in solving environment configuration problems.
  • Experience in database design.
  • Experience working with very large data sets and large databases is preferred.
  • Experience with ETL.
  • Experience working with SSRS.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Enjoy analytical problem solving.
  • An interest in the stock market is needed to be successful in this position.
  • Experience in finance is a plus.
